Terry D. Fisher
Terry D. Fisher is a native of Durham and has resided here all of his life. He attended the Durham City School system, graduating from
Durham High School in 1975. Terry attended Duke University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1979. He then obtained his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982. Upon graduation from Law School, Terry joined the Durham firm of Stubbs, Cole, Breedlove, Prentis & Biggs, PLLC, becoming a partner in that firm in 1986.
Terry remained with the Stubbs Cole firm through 2004, then spent a year in solo practice before joining Reinhardt Milam Law Group, PLLC (now Reinhardt Milam & Fisher) at the outset of 2006. Terry’s
law practice emphasizes consumer bankruptcy matters (Chapter 7 and Chapter 13). Terry has more than twenty years experience
practicing bankruptcy law and has appeared before the bankruptcy courts in all of North Carolina’s federal districts, having there represented both creditors and debtors. Terry’s practice also
includes civil litigation and personal injury law.
Terry is married to Karen Nelson Fisher, who is an elementary school teacher with the Orange
County Schools. Terry and Karen have two daughters, ages 8 and 11. The Fishers are active members of Grace Lutheran Church. Terry has also been active in various civic and community
organizations, having served on boards or committees with entities such as the Durham Jaycees, the Durham YMCA, and Triangle Hospice, Inc. In his time away from work, Terry enjoys watching
and participating in sports, reading history and fiction, and especially, spending time with his family.
